Free Luxury Bath for Everyone with a Garden!

Everyone who knows me well, knows I love bathing and I love gardens. I've found a simple way of  blending both so to enjoy the fruits of my efforts in the tub. Here's how to make simple bath sachets with what you grow and would otherwise throw out.

There are so many wonderful flowers and herbs that have healing properties as well as aid emotional health: Marigolds, Lavender and Rosemary are especially abundant. If you have Roses that is a special treat. But, any fragrant common flowers and herbs work well.

Pick the flowers and herbs and let them dry. I generally pick them and put them in a big clay bowl until I am ready to make a sachet. I often pluck dead marigolds off and keep adding them to the bowl. You should use just the buds of the flowers, no stems or seeds. Use the flowers and leaves of herbs. (save your seeds to plant next year.)

Some folks use cheesecloth to make sachets. But, I cut off the feet of ripped nylons or tights. I put my plant material in the foot and tie it up. It is a great way to up-cycle. If you don't have nylons or tights, you can use any thin porous cloth; thin socks, or tie up cloth from rags of old tee-shirts for example.

When in the tub, squeeze your sachet to get the essential oils and floral waters out of your plants. I often use my sachet as a loofah to scrub my entire body. With some plants, water will take on the color of your flowers. Marigolds turn the water a yellowish color, for example. Red roses can give the water a reddish tone. Squeeze the water from your sachet onto your face as well. Stay in the tub for a long, relaxing, healing soak.

Just what can these baths do for you? Here's the 411 on the oils and waters of a few garden delights.
